Fame is a dangerous drug and Trey was high af lol. A story about the music industry and what role every part plays!
Lemme just say this…👩🏽💻
I went into this expecting just a music industry type of book. But hey, this was layered af. We got music, love, betrayals, industry politics, and street politics!
A big thing here, I wasn’t a fan of our main character Trey. Hes this young rapper dreaming of a life of fortune and fame and willingness to do what he needs to do to achieve that. I felt like him and Tina was so cute at the beginning. She starts out as his manager – having his back and seeing things differently than him. He’s listening until he isn’t lol. What’s actually protection, he sees as hating because he’s too busy trying to get ahead!
His group Hustle Kingz is him, Boogs and Fogg (a producer). As they rise to fame, Trey’s ego, these rap beefs, the loyalty starts to get tested. And who they really are vs what they portray starts to collide. I feel like Trey definitely got lost in the sauce of being a rapper and his street connects making things appear real, that mf thought he was good in the hood lol. That definitely speaks to the music industry in any time period with these rappers. They all fronting lol.
The women in this were scandalous lol.
Tina, wasn’t scandalous really but she definitely a bad bitch and that needs to be mentioned. DANA though? The biggest scammer of them all lmao. Hated her. Annie? Although scandalous, I admired her growth as character. I liked how she was just doing her and making sure she was handling her business to put herself in position.
Okay, noted. 📖:
WHATS LOYALTY?
Childhood friendships, romantic relationships, business relations, street relationships! Everybody was for self in every relationship lmao.
I think what made me feel kinda lost in all the characters at first was the fact that it was like everyone knew somebody in some way. So many connections that came back to bite in the end.
Final Note 🩷:
Ultimately, everything came together in the end. I was impressed with how the author made this more than about a famous rapper.
Fame, power, loyalty, friendship, love, survival, exploitation and the cost of wanting more,. Everybody was chasing something and had to sacrifice something.
Theres definitely a lot of moving pieces to this story but I enjoyed it. It definitely picked up and ran once things started coming together.

I’ll have to check out these books lol any spoilers included in these reviews? I wanna read them but don’t wanna have the book spoiled for mehhhhh
No spoilers Lovely! 🩷
